Team Fortress 2: Engineer Update
Valve’s popular multiplayer team shooter Team Fortress 2 has released a major update today for the Engineer class. The update contains three new weapons and three new maps for your playing enjoyment. Get the full details after the break…
There are three new weapons to play with: the Wrangler, a pistol that allows you to take control of your sentry turret from afar and aim it at anything you choose. It also generates a shield around the sentry that absorbs 66% of incoming damage. After use, however, the sentry is left defenseless for a few seconds, so use it wisely. There is also the Gunslinger, which replaces the wrench. It adds 25 health to you and does extra damage on the third punch. It also allows for the construction of mini-sentries, which have a lower build cost. The final weapon is the Frontier Justice, which replaces the shotgun. It has a smaller magazine, but it allows for you to get more critical hits in relation to how many people your sentry gun kills.
There are also three new maps for your playing enjoyment: Thunder Mountain, Upward, and Hightower. The maps are all touted as having “lots of explosives”, which is always a good thing to have when playing games!
This update was one of the more interesting ones. Valve released 100 golden wrenches that could be found through crafting items, and promised to release the full update when the 100th wrench was found by players. The wrenches were found, and the update released today. Those who found the wrenches are forever immortalized on the Engineer Update page.
Valve presumably still has updates coming on their remaining classes- hopefully they will be just as full-featured as their previous ones!
